As we turn the page on another year, our sights are set on the new year, and many of you will embark on a custom that has been present for thousands of years — making a New Year’s resolution.

Setting New Year’s resolutions is a valuable tradition, offering personal growth and positive change opportunities.

New Year’s resolutions are great tools for self-improvement, providing a way to set goals and embrace positive change. Resolutions at the start of a new year symbolize hope, renewal, and the opportunity for a fresh start.

Making attainable goals is the key to keeping those resolutions alive throughout the year. Whether it be to eat healthier, lose weight, quit smoking, or save money, set a plan and stick to it. Focus and commitment to whatever goals you set for yourself will determine the success of your resolutions.

For us at The Tidewater News, we are going into 2025 not to maintain, but to improve our coverage of Franklin-Southampton County and be more accessible and visible in the community.

While we have seen many changes over the years, our commitment to bringing our readers the news that shapes the city, we still need your help. Let us know if you see something going on that you are unsure of, know of an event, good deed, etc. We are a small staff, and while we strive to be everywhere, realistically, we cannot. We are also seeking members of the community interested in contributing columns that relate to our community.
