The members of the Franklin Tri-County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. are inviting all to come out at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, to the Camp Community College Workforce Development Center to help celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and all that he stood for by bringing unity to the Franklin/Southampton County community.
A chapter news release noted that the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Walk and Program, initiated in January 2011 by Boykins Girl Scout Group #5073, will feature Retired Judge Alfreda Talton-Harris as its guest speaker this year.
For the community service project associated with the event, attendees are encouraged to donate their choice of coats, hats or gloves for students, and the clothing items will be distributed to local elementary schools.
The walk will be led by Girl Scout Group #5073, and music at the event will be provided by Bro. Donovan Davis and the MLK Choir.
