Closures, delays due to expected wintry weather

Local governments and educational institutions in the area are adjusting their schedules due to the winter weather expected overnight.
FRANKLIN CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Franklin City Public Schools announced shortly before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, that it was updating its status for the following day from operating on a two-hour delay to being closed.
“The decision has just been made to cancel all Franklin City Public School classes and Central Office hours for Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025,” FCPS officials stated. “Please stay tuned to local media outlets, social media and ParentSquare for updates.”
SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Southampton County Public Schools had stated in the early evening of Tuesday, Jan. 21, that it would be operating on a two-hour delay the next day, but it shared the following update on Facebook shortly after 9 p.m.: “In consideration of the worsening conditions and the expansion of the Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service, Southampton County Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025. Stay warm and cozy!”
CITY OF FRANKLIN
The city of Franklin announced on its Facebook page, “Due to the impending winter storm that will impact our area tonight bringing cold temperatures and snowfall, the city of Franklin will be operating on a two-hour delay for Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025.”
CAMP COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Camp Community College announced on its website that it would close at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, because of possible winter weather conditions, and it will open at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
TOWN OF WINDSOR
The town of Windsor stated on its Facebook page, “Due to the expected inclement weather, the Windsor town office will open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025.”
ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY SCHOOLS
Isle of Wight County Schools Director of Community and Media Relations Lynn B. Briggs stated in a Tuesday evening, Jan. 21, announcement, “After closely monitoring the National Weather Service and local forecasts as well as consulting with the emergency services, it appears that snow will impact our area overnight. Given these predictions and the likelihood of hazardous road conditions, all IWCS schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 22, for all students and staff. This includes all after-school and evening activities. SOL testing for middle school students scheduled for tomorrow will occur on Thursday. We appreciate your understanding as we all work together to ensure the safety of our students and staff.”
