Franklin Fire and Rescue (FFR) proudly welcomed nine new firefighters to its ranks following a graduation and badge-pinning ceremony on Dec. 18. An FFR news release noted that the Hampton Roads Fire Academy Class 66 chose the name “The Slimy Dawgs.” These individuals spent the 38 weeks preceding the graduation and ceremony undergoing intensive physical training and state-certified Basic Recruit Training for Fire and EMS. In the weeks that followed, they began working to become certified as Advanced Life Support providers. “We are extremely proud of their hard work and dedication,” FFR officials stated. Pictured are the nine new firefighters, with Capt. Warren Story and Lt. Taylor Stallard, who are wearing jackets.
