Lamont Moore filled up the stat sheet for the Tidewater Academy boys’ basketball team in a 60-54 loss to No. 2-ranked Evangel Christian in the quarterfinals of the Virginia Independent Schools Division III state tournament Wednesday at Prince George High School.
The senior scored 14 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in his final game with the Warriors. The three-year player scored 975 points in his career.
Teammate B.J. Morris added 12 points and Daniel McKenny scored 11 in the losing effort.
“I’m really proud of them,” Coach Walter Westbrook said of the team. “We gave the No. 2 team in the state a run for its money.”
Westbrook said he was pleased with the way the team has played all year, given the team only had four returning players from last year.
“To be where we were tonight is pretty impressive in my opinion,” Westbrook said.
TA finished the year 21-10.
