WAVERLY—Waverly Mayor Walter Mason faces challenger Kevin Jones for the May 1 election.

Jones serves on Town Council. Since he is running for mayor, he cannot seek re-election for his Council seat.

Barbara Taylor is the only Council member seeking re-election. Council members Linda Gardner, Andrew Mayes and Kayda Pope Thornton are not running again.

Hoping to get elected to one of five, two-year terms are Rose Morton, Eddie Boyd, Miriam Edwards and Barbara Smith Gray.
