Mr. and Mrs. Ben Foust announce the engagement of their daughter, Abby Gretchen, to Timothy Asher Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Smith of North Chesterfield.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Chalmer and Mary Lee Foust and the late Everett and Thelma Smith.

She graduated from Franklin High School in 2001 and Virginia Tech in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in human nutrition, foods and exercise. She received a doctorate in physical therapy in 2008 from MCV-VCU, and is a physical therapist with Lakewood Manor in Richmond.

Her fiancé is the grandson of the Eleanor Mellichamp Mills of Charlottesville and the late Norman Griffith Smith, and Warren and Constance Widman.

He graduated from Monacan High School in 2001 and J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College with an associate degree in respiratory therapy in 2010. He is a registered respiratory therapist with Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg.

A June 2012 wedding is planned in Courtland.
