To the Editor:

It was my pleasure to work with Jim Councill as a former mayor of Hampton and president and chief executive officer of the Hampton Roads Partnership.

I was always impressed with his knowledge of the particular subject matter, the enthusiasm he consistently demonstrated, his very friendly manner, which put people at ease, thus enhancing effectiveness, and his very strong advocacy for Franklin and its important role in the Hampton Roads region.

It is rare for someone to have as many talents as Jim and actually perform to those abilities.

Jim Councill has done that and the citizens of Franklin have benefited. Hopefully, they will continue to see him as an exceptional leader and deserving of their support for re-election as mayor.
