TA baseball gets fifth straight win

PORTSMOUTH—Peyton Holdsworth’s career day at the plate and on the mound helped the Tidewater Academy baseball team beat Alliance Christian 10-2 to secure its fifth win in a row.

Holdsworth struck out 10 hitters in five innings of work and went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two triples, three runs scored and five RBIs.

Catcher Reed Holdsworth, Peyton’s brother, went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs in the win.

The Warriors improved to 10-4.

The Warriors scored three runs in each of the first three innings and one in the sixth inning.

In action Tuesday, Tidewater Academy pitcher Michael Webb struck out nine and gave up three hits to help lead the Warriors to a 4-1 Virginia Commonwealth Conference victory over Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot in Wakefield.

Webb also went 3-for-4 with two doubles. Daniel McKenney went 3-for-4 and Peyton Holdsworth went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

TA will host Brunswick Academy at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24.
