Election should send message to senators

To the Editor:

This is an open letter to Virginia’s United States senators.

You may have noticed the results of the election. If you did, I want you to get this message: There are a lot of things about this government that we are just plain tired of.

Our businesses are tired of not knowing how to plan for the coming year because they don’t know what the rules of the game will be.

Our children and grandchildren are tired of hearing about the enormous debt we will leave them because our government is unable to operate within its very ample means.

The working man is tired of giving the government half of what he earns so it can be handed out in entitlement programs and squandered on other programs that aren’t within the constitutional authority of the government to begin with.

The taxpayer is tired of watching Ben Bernanke and the Fed bail out big banks and businesses deemed “too big to fail” with billions of dollars we don’t have.

The citizen is tired of seeing his country sold off a piece at a time to Chinese lenders and international bankers who lend us money as fast as we can borrow it so we can throw money at problems instead of solving them.

We’re tired of fighting with one hand tied behind our back, and we’re going to change some things. If you can’t help us do that, then have the decency to get out of the way.

Thank you.
