Windsor posts wins at track meet

WINDSOR—Windsor’s Jordan Jones’ three wins and Leah Dreps’ two led the Lady Dukes to a first-place finish during a Tuesday Tri-Rivers District track meet at home.

For the Windsor boys, who also won their meet, Oris Bowers was a two-time winner.

Windsor boys earned 155.5 points. Sussex followed with 124, Charles City 61, Franklin 51 and Surry 21. Windsor girls led with 135.5 points followed by Sussex 78, Charles City 46, Franklin 35 and Surry 24.

Jones won the 100-meter hurdles in 18.64, 300-meter hurdles in 56.14 and long jump with a leap of 13-01. Dreps won the shot put with a throw of 25-01 and discus with a toss of 79-03.

Bowers won the 300-meter hurdles in 46.94 and the discus with a throw of 98-05.

Single winners for the boys were Josh Edwards in the 400-meter dash with a 54.84, Joshua Littlefield in the 1600-meter run with a 5:40.24 and Mitchell Azjmere in the long jump with a leap of 18-01.

Eighth-grader Chad McCann Jr. won the 3200-meter run in 13:53 and placed third in the 1600-meter run in 5:44. McCann’s times did not count because he is in eighth grade.

“This young man does have talent and a bright future as a distance runner.” said Windsor Track Coach Jeff Burchette.
