COURTLAND—A 44-year-old Courtland man was killed after the motorcycle he was driving hit a ditch and he was thrown, Virginia State Police said Monday.

Richard Todd Cutchins of the 24000 block of Otter Drive was driving a 2004 Yamaha at 12:30 p.m. Sunday on Story Station Road one mile south of Bethel Road when the bike left the road, hit the ditch and overturned several times.

Cutchins died at the scene.

State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anay said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
