Charles August Wieters

Charles August Wieters a resident of Slick Rock Mountain, N.C. died October 21, 2010 in Brevard, NC. He was Born January 6, 1919, in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Dr. John Christopher Wieters and Emilie Lucille Davis Wieters. Mr. Wieters was predeceased by his wife Mary Heins Wieters, son Wade and daughter Eleanor.

He is survived by his daughter Zenobia and (Ron) of Athens Ga., son Charles (Sherri) of Austin Tx., daughter-in-law, Mary Coker Wieters of Abbeville, SC , as well as five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Following service in the US Navy during WWII, Mr. Wieters was employed by Union Camp Corporation until retiring as a Manager in the Mill Planning Department in Franklin, Va. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Wieters enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing with family and friends in Franklin as well as Sullivan’s Island SC and Brevard NC.

A memorial service for both Mr. and Mrs. Wieters will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Franklin Va. At 2:00pm December 11, 2010 with interment to follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Franklin. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
