AULANDER, N.C.—Edith Hoggard Webb, the 101-year-old widow of R. Gregory Webb, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, in Taylorsville, N.C.

She was born in Aulander, N.C., on Aug. 5, 1909, the daughter of Annie and Bailey Hoggard.

She was a longtime resident of Norfolk, Va., where she taught Sunday School for many years at Park Place Baptist Church.

She also taught special education at Coleman Place School, was a member of Norfolk Woman’s Club and BPOE Ladies Auxiliary.

For 14 years she lived at The Village at Woods Edge in Franklin. From 2007 until her death she lived in Newton, N.C.

She is survived by a brother, Ben H. White of Raleigh, N.C., and children, Annette Underwood of Mechanicsville, Va., Roy G. Webb and his wife, WyDeene, of Armuchee, Ga., and Linda Bishop and her husband, Terrell. of Taylorsville, N.C.

Also grandchildren Lynne U. Turman and her husband, George of Mechanicsville, Va., George D. Underwood III and his wife, Debbie of Summerduck, Va., Kim McConville and her husband, Jeff, of Carefree, Ariz., and Evan Bishop of Taylorsville, N.C.; and great-grandchildren Kate and Emily Turman, Morgan and Mason McConville, and Desiree Bishop.

The family will receive friends at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel in Aulander from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2010.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at 11 a.m at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby St., Norfolk, Va.
