WINTON, N.C.–Three men have been charged with first-degree murder in the Nov. 24, 2009, death of a Murfreesboro, N. C., man.

Charged Wednesday with the death of Johnny Parker Jr. were Brian Keith Lassiter, 27, of, Como, N.C.; Dominique Williams, 23, of Murfreesboro; and Devon Jonte Jordan, 21, of Pendleton, N.C.

All were taken to Hertford County Jail.

Hertford County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation into Parker’s death continues; additional arrests are pending.

Parker, 27, was shot and killed as he stood on the front porch of his home at Woodridge Mobile Home Park.

Police said several suspects were firing guns, and Parker came out of his home to apparently see what was going on.

Police received reports about shots fired, but were unaware that anyone was wounded until receiving a call from Roanoke-Chowan Hospital about a gunshot victim. Parker died at the hospital.

On the day of Parker’s funeral five days later, shots were fired again at Woodridge Mobile Home Park, believed to be in retaliation for Parker’s murder. While no one was injured, eight individuals from Virginia Beach were charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and felony conspiracy.
