PORTSMOUTH—Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Coggsdale, 51, formerly of Franklin, passed away May 28, 2012.

He was a kind and gentle soul that touched many lives in many places. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and coach.

Kenny dedicated his time and heart to Churchland Little League for 18 years serving as coach, vice president and president. He loved the kids and supported and encouraged them on and off the field.

He was loved, admired and respected by the kids and their families.

Kenny was a member of West End United Methodist Church and was a machinist at Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 30 years and took pride in his work. There he received many awards for his talent and his ideas for improvement.

Kenny was a loyal Churchland Truckers fan, always present to watch his sons play baseball. He could be heard at every game yelling words of encouragement and praise to every member of the team.

Kenny’s pride and joy were his three children and his granddaughter. He was a wonderful dad celebrating their accomplishments and supporting them through disappointments. His love for them had no limits.

Coggsdale (Sherri); stepfather, Roy Gray; mother-in-law, Jean Drewry; his friend and mother of his children, Lorrie Coggsdale; and many relatives and friends.
