DREWRYVILLE—A Drewryville man was charged with animal cruelty for allegedly spitting on a Southampton County sheriff’s patrol dog, Maj. Gene Drewery said.
Deputies on Monday were called to Kelvin Marshall Jackson’s home in the 24000 block of Betorna Drive for an apparent domestic disturbance. A deputy saw Jackson allegedly drop an item that appeared to be drug paraphernalia with residue.
After he was arrested, Jackson spit on the dog several times when it barked at him, Drewery said.
