On Saturday, June 23, 2012, Shirley Branch Vaughan of Newton St., Washington, D.C., was called home to be with the Lord.
Shirley was born on April 4, 1940, to the late Sue Mae Branch and Walter Branch in Murfreesboro, N.C.
In 1964, Shirley moved to Washington, D.C., to raise her children, where she resided until her death.
She leaves to cherish her memory to three daughters, Linda Vaughan and Debra Mack of Washington, D.C., and Shirley Tharpe (son-in- law Andrew Tharpe) of Capitol Heights, Md.; one son, Ronald Vaughan (daughter -in -law Karen Vaughan) of Washington, D.C.; four sisters, Lorraine Woodley (Thomas Woodley )of Newsoms, Va., Joyce Ann Rowland ( Jimmy ) of Wakefield, Virginia, Diane Robinson of Richmond, Va., and Gloria Jean Grant of Waverly, Va.; one brother, Bennis Lee Branch (Katherine) of California; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; one aunt; four uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A homegoing service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Mount Tabor Baptist Church, 28668 N. Main St., Newsoms, Va., with the pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Cole delivering the eulogy.
Burial will be in Care Memorial Gardens.
