COURTLAND—A $1,000 reward is being offered for a Roanoke Rapids, N.C. man for his alleged involvement with doing $50,000 damage to a Franklin-area company.

Calvin Jamal Mason, 30, is believed to be one of four people who broke into Richard Mosena Enterprises between 6 p.m. June 26 and 10 a.m. June 27, the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office reported. They are accused of stealing an undetermined amount of welding lead, fishing tackle, tools, copper wire and wiring supplying power to the building at 26460 Smith’s Ferry Road.

The Sheriff’s Office identified Mason because some of the property was recovered at Franklin Disposal and Recycling on General Thomas Highway. To get money for recycling items at the business, customers must show identification, which Mason did, said Major Gene Drewery.

The other alleged thieves have not been identified.

Mason is described as 6-foot-1, 155 pounds. He faces charges of burglary and grand larceny. Anyone with information is asked to call 653-2900.

The suspects cut a fence and broke a hole in the door to get inside.

Richard Mosena Enterprises rebuilds dry cleaning and laundry equipment, and other industrial machinery. No one from the company returned a phone call.
