Robert “Bobby” Francis, Sr., 70, of Emporia, died Sunday, January 23, 2011. He was the son of the late Raleigh and Annie Francis and was also preceded in death by three brothers, Milton, James, and Gilbert Francis and two sisters, Louise Francis Bryant and Bertha Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Wells; two sons, Robert “Robbie” Francis, Jr. and friend Deste Cox; Chris Wells and wife Vicky; daughter Robin Howerton and husband Charles; three grandchildren, Tyler Francis, Joshua and Jillian Howerton; six sisters, Ruth Carter, Jeanette Carlin, Irma Heath, Rosa Lee Grant, Bessie Best, Marie Fowler. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia where the funeral service will be held 2 pm Wednesday, January 26, 2011.
