CHESTERFIELD—Tidewater Academy boys remain one of three teams tied for first place in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference after a 63-49 league win over Richmond Christian on Tuesday.

The Warriors, who have two of their starters out due to illness, face Amelia tonight, Jan. 26, and Steward, Friday, Jan. 28. Both are also tied for first place. Each of the three teams is 7-1 in conference.

“Every school team has people that are sick,” said Warrior Coach Walter Westbrook. “With four minutes to go in the game (Tuesday), we were up by 23. They started making a lot of 3-pointers.”

Warrior senior Mike Greene scored a game-high 25 points. Junior Lamont Moore added 23. Both made 11 rebounds each.

“They had real big games,” Westbrook said.

Tidewater is 13-3 overall.
