SEDLEY—The cause for a fire that heavily damaged a vacant trailer is being considered suspicious, said Sedley Fire Chief Keith Rose.

The investigation has been turned over to the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office, Rose said.

More than 30 firefighters at 1:30 a.m. Saturday responded to Unity Road for the fire, which is believed to have started near the back door.

The cause looks suspicious because there was no power to the home, Rose said.

Ivor and Hunterdale volunteer fire departments assisted.
