Atlantic Shores outscores IWA 37-3 in final quarter for win

CHESAPEAKE—Isle of Wight Academy battled gamely for a half, but was ultimately overcome by Atlantic Shores Christian School, 65-22, Saturday night.

The loss was the second consecutive for the Chargers, who fell to 15-4 overall and 8-2 in the Metro Conference. The Seahawks are 18-8 and 10-0 in the conference.

The score stood 23-11 at halftime. But the third quarter made the difference. A Josh Thomas field goal with 7 minutes remaining in that quarter pulled the Chargers to within 10 points, 23-13.

It was the Chargers’ last field goal of the quarter-and-a-half as ASCS ran off 37 of the next 40 points to take a 60-16 lead into the fourth quarter.

IWA was led by Brandon Privette with 6 points. Ryan Stowe led ASCS with 17.

IWA is tied for second place in the conference. Williamsburg Christian, which has lost twice to Atlantic Shores, visits Jester Gymnasium Tuesday night. IWA lost to Williamsburg last week.
