CAMDEN, N.J. — Jessie Leon Brown, 75, formerly of Boykins,Va., died Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, N.J.
Homegoing celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at Bethlehem A.M.E. Zion Church. Internment will follow in the Ivy Hill F.W.B. Church Cemetery in Lillington, in the Shaw Town Community.
Mr. Brown was a former member of the Zion Southhampton African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Courtland, Va.
He is survived by four daughters, Helen Brown-Dawson of Waverly, Va., Annie Marie Brown of Petersburg ,Va., Velma Ray Brown of Hopewell, Va., & Rev. Sarah Brown-Jones of Lillington N.C.; sons, Edgar Brown of Clayton, N.C., Daryl McGirt of Fayetteville, N.C., & Jessie Leon Brown Jr. of Lillington, N.C.
Ritualistic services will be conducted 7:00 PM Thursday at The Johnson County Baptist Association Headquarters by the George B. Willis Lodge and The Clayton Consistory followed by the visitation of friends. Viewing will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Saturday at Norrington A.M.E. Zion Church in Lillington, N.C., and at the church an hour prior to the service.
Hood’s Funeral & Cremation Services in Conway, N.C., is handling the arrangements.
