ISLE OF WIGHT—Isle of Wight Academy lost 58-42 to Broadwater Academy on Thursday night.
IWA Coach Chris Hooper noted the girls played a better game compared to the teams’ meeting one week earlier, when the Lady Chargers lost 59-33.
IWA dropped to 8-10 for the season and 3-6 in the Metro Conference.
Broadwater led 16-13 after the first quarter and 35-28 at the half before widening its lead to 48-34 going into the final period.
“In the third quarter, we just had a hard time getting into our offense,” Hooper said. “Their defense was a little tough, and we got a little tired, plus we have a few girls sick with the flu.”
Lady Charger senior Chelsea Edwards scored a game-high 25 points. Junior Ally VanCampen snagged 12 rebounds.
IWA will travel to Southampton Academy for a Monday, Feb. 7, non-conference game.
