The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Western Tidewater until 10 a.m. Thursday.

Up to 2 inches of snow is possible.

Light snow and flurries were expected to begin between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. The heaviest snow is forecast for between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m.

Temperatures will be in the upper 20s to low 30s during the snowfall.

Road conditions are expected to be hazardous Thursday morning as residents drive to work.

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain could cause travel difficulties. Motorists are urged to be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility.
