WAKEFIELD—Clarice Cowling Adkins, 79, of Suffolk and formerly of Wakefield, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012.

A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Wakefield Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Wakefield Cemetery.

Mrs. Adkins was an executive secretary for the Nuclear Weapons System Evaluation Group at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

She is survived by her husband, James Bromley Adkins; sons David Adkins of Glen Allen and John Adkins of Blackstone; a daughter, Linda Adkins Smith of Chester; and sisters Alyce Richardson of Wakefield and Ann Cowling of Piedmont, S.C.
