Franklin – Helen Tono, 88, passed away February 21, 2011 at her residence. She was born in Jersey City, N. J. and was a longtime resident of Manhattan, NY. She was a daughter of the late of the late Julius and Felicksa Chiemelewski Tono, and was predeceased by three sisters, Wanda Greene, Adele Roginski, Sophie Tono, and a brother, Joseph Tono. Helen was a member of Holy Catholic Church of New York City and attended St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Franklin. She is survived by her niece, Michele Tono Harshall and husband, Bryan, of Franklin.

Helen was a graduate of the NYU School of Journalism and served as editor of Redbook, Women’s Day, and Better Homes and Gardens. She wrote a sex advice column for Playboy Magazine, was a freelance proof-reader, and authored 48 books on Astrology. She donated her services to the Actor’s Guild of New York, ASPCA in New York, The Big Apple Circus, Ballet Society of New York, and the Hudson Senior Guild.

A celebration of Helen’s life will be conducted at 3 pm Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Michele and Bryan’s residence, 724 Clay Street, Franklin, VA. 23851.
