FRANKLIN—A former Prince George County School administrative aide and gym teacher has been hired as assistant principal for Franklin High School.

Jason Chandler replaces Travis Felts, who was promoted to FHS principal. Chandler will be paid $53,438 annually and began working on Friday, said Gail Wade, director of human resources and administrative services.

Chandler has his bachelor’s degree in physical education and athletic training from Longwood University and a master’s degree in curriculum instruction from Averett University. He taught middle and high school gym at Prince George before being named administrative aide, Wade said.

“It’s kind of like an assistant principal — almost,” she said.

Chandler also will oversee the Drug-Free School Health Advisory Council for an extra $6,000.
