The Franklin City Council tonight will consider rescinding its recent decision to end discussions with the Navy about the use of Franklin Municipal Airport for pilot training.
Reconsideration of the 5-2 vote at the council’s Feb. 14 meeting is listed under “Old/New Business” on the agenda for today’s meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
Navy officials said Friday that they had suspended an environmental assessment of the Franklin airport’s suitability for the touch-and-go training and issued a request for proposals from interested airfields in the region.
The Navy is looking for an auxiliary airfield to train pilots of turboprop aircraft that transport people and cargo to carriers at sea.
