Several college options accommodate schedules

Registration for spring semester 2010 started Nov. 23 and classes begin Jan. 11. A broad range of credit offerings are available at the Franklin campus, the Hobbs Suffolk campus, and the PDCCC Center in Smithfield. Students also have the option of choosing online classes. Following are several afternoon/evening and online offerings, making it easy to accommodate schedules of working students.

DRF 175: Schematics and Mechanical Diagrams

This 2-credit course covers interpretation of basic shop drawings, conventional symbols, common electrical and electronics symbols, wiring diagrams, hydraulic and pneumatic symbols, schematic

drawings, and piping diagrams. The class meets on Wednesdays from 7 to 9:50 p.m.

ECO 202: Principles of Microeconomics

This 3-credit course introduces the basic concepts of microeconomics and explores the free market concepts with coverage of economic models and graphs, scarcity and choices, supply and demand, elasticities, marginal benefits and costs, profits and production and distribution. Classes meet on Tuesdays from 7 to 9:50 p.m.

ELE 133: Practical Electricity I

This 3-credit course teaches the fundamentals of electricity, terminology, symbols, and diagrams. It also includes the principles essential to the understanding of general practices, safety and the practical aspects of residential and non-residential wiring, and electrical installation. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m.

ITE 115: Introduction to Computer Applications and Concepts

This 3-credit course covers computer concepts, Internet skills and the use of a software suite including word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software to demonstrate skills required for computer literacy. Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 to 6:15 p.m.

PSY 230: Developmental Psychology

This 3-credit course focuses on the development of the individual from conception to death, following a life-span perspective on the development of the person’s physical, cognitive, and psychosocial growth. Classes meet on Mondays from 7 to 9:50 p.m.

Spring Courses: Hobbs Suffolk Campus

CST 100: Principles of Public Speaking

This 3-credit course applies theory and principles of public address with emphases on preparation and delivery. Classes meet Mondays from 7 to 9:50 p.m.

HIS 121: United States History I

Meeting on Thursdays, from 7 to 9:50 p.m, this 3-credit course surveys United States history from its beginning to the present.

MUS 121: Music Appreciation

This 3-credit class increases the variety and depth of the student’s interest, knowledge, and involvement in music and related cultural activities; acquaints the student with traditional and 20th-Century music literature, emphasizing the relationship music has as an art form with man and society; and increases the student’s awareness of the composers and performers of all eras through listening and concert experiences. Classes meet on Tuesdays from 7 to 9:50 p.m.

REL 100: Introduction to the Study of Religion

Meeting on Mondays from 7 to 9:50 p.m, this 3-credit course explores various religious perspectives and ways of thinking about religious themes and religious experience.

PDCCC AT SMITHFIELD

Spring offerings at PDCCC’s Smithfield Center include ADJ 100: Survey of Criminal Justice (3 credits), Tuesdays, 7 to 9:50 p.m; CHD 118: Language Arts for Young Children (3 credits), Mondays, 7 to 9:50 p.m; and EMT 109: CPR for Healthcare Providers (1 credit), Friday, March19 from 5 to 10 p.m, and Saturday, March 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m
