COURTLAND—Southampton Academy has hired former Franklin High School Volleyball Coach Frank Seal to the same position.
“I feel really good,” SA Athletic Director Dale Marks said of the hire. “I thought Sarah (Nixon) did a nice job with the team last year.”
Nixon’s work schedule conflicted with her abilities to coach after one year at the helm. The Lady Raiders finished 9-8 in 2011.
Seal said it was a goal to coach at SA because “there’s passion over there for volleyball.”
“I feel good about the team,” he said. “I think we have a lot of talent. It’s my goal to bring that talent together.
The biggest obstacle will be teaching a new system.
“My goal is to get them to play my system,” Seal said.
He coached the Lady Broncos to a district title each year from 1998 to 2006.
Franklin Athletic Director Dave Lease didn’t return a call Tuesday about who would replace Seal.
