Broncos crush Indians 48-6

COURTLAND – Franklin benefited from Southampton miscues including five fumbles in a 48-6 romp over the Indians Friday night.
The Broncos’ Marcus Stephens almost went the distance on the opening kickoff, but the Indians managed to stop him on their 22-yard line, but Franklin couldn’t capitalize on the good field position.
The Indians fumbled the ball in their first possession, giving the Broncos the ball on the eight-yard line.
The Broncos got on the scoreboard with a one-yard run by Travis Brown. The two-point conversion failed but the Broncos led 6-0 with 8:46 remaining in the first quarter.
In the second quarter the Indians coughed up the ball for a second time, but Franklin couldn’t capitalize after driving the ball to the five-yard line.
Early in the third quarter, Franklin’s Corey Porter picked off Indian quarterback Coby Williams’ pass.
Brown crossed the goal line again on a 17-yard run. The two-point conversion failed and the Broncos led 12-0.
On the ensuing kickoff, Franklin’s Clinton Smith recovered a Southampton fumble
Brown scored a third touchdown, this time from six yards out. The two-point conversion failed, but the Broncos increase their led to 18-0.
Southampton turned the ball over on its next possession.
Marcus Stephens scored on a one-yard run for the Broncos. Allison Cromwell converted the two-point play and the Broncos led was now 26-0.
Another Indians’ fumble resulted in a fourth-quarter touchdown for Franklin’s Shane Walker. Cromwell converted the two points to bring the Bronco lead to 34-0.
The Indians lone score in the game came on a 20-yard pass from Williams to Jamal Johnson early in the fourth quarter. Their two-point conversion attempt failed, making the score 34 -6.
The Broncos added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter on a three-yard run by Cromwell and a 45-yard run by Javonte Baker.
For the game, the Broncos had 21 first downs compared to the Indians’ six. On the ground the Broncos had 369 yards to the Indians 97.
Brown was the leading rusher for Franklin with 111 yards and Cosby Williams led Southampton with 46 yards.
Blacknall led the Broncos in tackles with five, while Chris Lawrence had 10 for the Indians.
