COURTLAND—Southampton Academy proved it’s more than a “Tonee Hill offense” on Friday night.

Out with a sprained neck, the star junior running back watched as his teammates routed Northeast Academy 60-14 to improve to 3-0 in the Colonial Carolina Conference. Hill during the first two games rushed for 508 yards and eight touchdowns.

“We put Cam Hines in his spot at tailback and got Paul Parker in,” said Raider Coach Dale Marks. “We are far from a one-dimensional team.”

The Raiders rushed for 395 yards and held the Eagles to 53 yards on the ground. Leading SA was Parker, who rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore Nate Williams followed with 105 yards, including a 68-yard touchdown.

The Eagles completed nine of 21 passes for 214 yards, one interception and a 50-yard touchdown. The Raiders completed one of two passes for seven yards.

The game opened with Parker, a junior, scoring on a 45-yard run with 11:01 left in the first quarter. Hines, a junior, picked up the conversion.

With 9:20 left in the quarter, Raider junior defensive end Todd Thorpe recovered a fumble and took it in for a 25-yard touchdown. Sophomore quarterback Matt Rose picked up the two-point conversion, giving the Raiders a 16-0 lead.

Twenty-five seconds into the second quarter, Hines scored on a 61-yard run. Sophomore Ethan Edwards picked up the two-point conversion.

Northeast Academy junior quarterback Christian Fleetwood went to the air, throwing a 59-yard reception to senior Michael Cooper. Williams tackled Cooper on the one-yard line. Fleetwood scored on the next play, putting the Eagles on the board, 24-8.

Hines then returned the kickoff to the 34-yard line. The next play, Parker ran in the ball for the touchdown. Edwards picked up the conversion.

With 8:28 left in the half, Edwards scored on a 25-yard run. The conversion failed, and SA went into the locker room with a 38-8 lead.

Two minutes into the third quarter, Rose scored on a 25-yard run and picked up the two-point conversion.

Parker then snagged the ball from a Northeast player and scored on a 32-yard scamper with 8:26 left in the quarter. Junior Colin Swenson’s conversion attempt failed.

Minutes later, Swenson recovered an Eagle fumble. On the next play, Williams ran 68 yards for a touchdown. Edwards picked up the two-point conversion.

Fleetwood threw a 50-yard pass to Northeast Academy freshman Andrew Lowe for the final touchdown. The conversion failed.
