COURTLAND—James E. Porter, 39, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at MCV Medical College Hospital in Richmond.

The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bryant’s Baptist

Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Porter was a construction worker and a 1992 graduate of

Southampton High School.

He is survived by brothers Archie, Taylor and Barrett Porter, David Denson, Ronald “Cat” Williams, John Sykes and Brian Banks; and sisters Lillie Porter, Diane Williams, Cheryl Roberts, Latoya Faison, Karen Lashley ,Essence Williams ,Laura Bynum and Teresa Banks.

Rountree Family Mortuary and Cremation is handling arrangements.
