Broncos remain unbeaten

FRANKLIN – The Franklin Broncos’ Travis Brown scored on the opening drive on a seven-yard run and the Broncos never looked back as they took a 66 – 22 win against the Lancaster High School Red Devils in a non-district game Friday night at Armory Field.
By the end of the first quarter, the Broncos were up 30-0.
Marcus Stephens broke free on a 62-yard run, followed by Allison Cromwell on a 35-yard touchdown run and Brown scored again on a 17-yard run. The broncos converted three two-point conversions by Brown, JeVonte Blacknall & Terry Warren.
The scoring continued in the second quarter as Cromwell plowed over the goal on an 18-yard run. With the score 36 -0, Bronco head coach Darin Parker directed his team to take a knee on the two-point conversion.
On defense, the Broncos’ Tavis McKinley picked off a Red Devil pass and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown to push the score to 42 -0.
The Red Devils scored late in the second quarter on a 36-yard Kedrick Lee pass to Taj Smith. Javonte Smith scored on a two-point conversion to cut the Bronco lead to 42-8.
FHS’ Javonte Baker returned the ensuing kickoff 75 yards to score with 1:52 remaining in the half. The game went to halftime with the Broncos ahead 48 -8.
Playing the second half with a running clock due to the lead by FHS, the Broncos coaching staff called on its bench for much of the second half.
The Broncos scored twice in the third quarter following a 45-yard touchdown run by Brown and a pick-six by Cromwell.
Entering the final quarter of play, the Red Devils scored twice on touchdown runs of three yards each by Ricky Gibson. One two-point conversion was good by Devanta Stewart and the score was 60-22.
The Broncos added six more points on a 17-yard touchdown run by Baker.
The Broncos on the ground collected 396 yards. The leading rusher was Brown with 122 yards.
Four Broncos had four tackles apiece. They were Cromwell, Latrell Lane, Blacknall and Corey Porter.
