Raiders romp in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. – Southampton Academy’s football team wasted no time scoring as they romped in a 58-33 win Friday over St. David’s

The Raiders took an 8-0 lead with 9:41 left in the first quarter on a 10-yard Tonee Hill run and a Matt Rose run for two points.

St. David’s tied it up with 6:23 left before Hill scored on a 14-yard run and the pass from Rose to Zach Best converted the two-point play. The Raiders led 16-8 with 4:12 left.

SA scored again on an 81-yard Hill run. Rose scored two-points and the Raiders led 16-8 with 11:04 left in the half.

Paul Parker scored next for SA on a 42-yard run and Rose connected with Best again for two. The score was 32-14.

Rose hit Hill on a 33-yard pass for a touchdown to put SA up 38-14. Hill’s three-yard run on the next Raiders drive gave SA a 46-21 lead at the half.

Rose connected with Hill for a 59-yard touchdown to make the score 52-21.

After a St. David’s score, SA scored on a 70-yard pass from Rose to Cam Hines with 2:26 left in the third to give the Raiders the 58-33 win.
