Speight, Bradshaw combine for no-hitter

NEWPORT NEWS—Southampton Academy’s Chelsea Speight and Taylor Bradshaw combined for a no-hitter to defeat Peninsula Catholic High School 20-2 Wednesday.

Speight and Bradshaw walked 4 batters each during the non-conference game.

From the plate, Speight hit 2 doubles and 1 single, Taylor hit a triple and two singles, and Catherine Glover, Whitley Smith and Beth Waller each hit 1 double and 1 single.

In action from Tuesday, the Lady Raiders lost 6-2 to Greenbriar Christian. Speight was the losing pitcher.

Bradshaw hit two doubles.

The Lady Raiders will play Kenston Forest at 4:30 p.m. today, March 25, in Blackstone for the Virginia Commonwealth Conference game.
