FRANKLIN—A Friday night battle of two unbeaten teams ended with Franklin defeating West Point 51-14 for its homecoming at Armory Field.

“The team has been very focused and playing hard,” said Franklin Coach Darren Parker. “Our game last week against Rappahannock brought us closer together.”

The Bronco defense gave up little on the ground, but the Pointers gained 184 yards in the air.

The Broncos rushed for a total of 455 yards with Travis Brown having 165 and Marcus Stephens 110.

Brown led the Broncos in tackles with 6 followed by Allison Cromwell with 4.

On the Bronco’s next possession, Pittman connected with Corey Porter for a 65-yard touchdown. The Padilla kick was good, putting the Broncos up 28-6.

On the next Pointer possession, the team drove to the Bronco 3-yard line, but an interception by the Broncos stopped the drive.

Taking possession on their 5-yard line, Franklin dug it out yard by yard until Brown broke loose for his third touchdown with a run of 40 yards. The Padilla kick was blocked, and the Broncos were up 34-6.

With .07 seconds remaining in the half, Padilla booted a 32-yard field goal to end the half with the Broncos ahead 37-6.

Franklin started the second half on a 3-yard touchdown run by Alison Cromwell. The Padilla kick was good.

The Pointers drove the ball to the Broncos’ 3-yard line. Entering now into the fourth quarter, they fumbled, and the Bronco Brian Crockett recovered it after being bobbled around on the Bronco 34-yard line.

With 3:55 remaining in the game, Latrell Lane crossed the goal line on a 15-yard run. The Padilla was good.

The Pointers scored at the final horn on a 38-yard touchdown pass from Allen to Seth Hatcher. Allen ran the two-point conversion.
