FRANKLIN—A Franklin man accused of several burglaries in the city was denied bond on Monday.

Judge Parker Councill refused to set bond for Christopher Artis, 18, during a hearing in Franklin General District Court due to the “sheer number of serious felonies” in the case.

Artis and Charles Cary have both been charged with nine counts of burglary by Franklin Police.

Artis and Cary have been charged with break-ins at 599 W. Second Ave. 4A, 402 W. First Ave., 305 Bogart St., 700 Charles St., 401 W. First Ave., 827 Cool Spring St., 303 W. Fourth Ave. and 302 Beamon St.

In addition Artis also faces burglary for a break-in at 307 Grove St. Cary faces an additional charge of burglary for an incident at 501 Cameron St.

Cary has yet to face a bond hearing, said Southampton County Commonwealth’s Attorney Eric Cooke.
