PDCCC offers several summer business courses

Registration for summer semester at Paul D. Camp Community College began March 14. Classes begin May 16. Check out the college’s website.

In addition to traditional course offerings, the summer schedule includes online courses, which many busy people find convenient. Following is a good example:

SUMMER ONLINE BUSINESS/

MARKETING COURSES

Courses from the business management and marketing programs at PDCCC will include Introduction to Business and Principles of Marketing. Also offered will be two courses every aspiring supervisor or manager should have —Leadership Development and Human Resource Management.  Additionally, Principles of E-Commerce is being offered for business men and women looking for creative and potentially lucrative ways to decrease operating costs and increase revenues.

Introduction to Business provides students with a number of career choices and options. According to business management professor David Lydick, it is considered to be a “must-do” course for undecided students or students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university, while Principles of Marketing provides students with many opportunities to “learn how to earn” in the financially lucrative field of marketing.

Leadership Development is for everyone from coaches, politicians and civic leaders to teachers, government workers and others.

Human Resource Management is a “must” course for aspiring or new supervisors, first-level managers and union shop stewards/officials. Participants learn how employers and their employees work with each other in our “Employer-at-Will” Commonwealth.

Principles of E-Commerce combines a little technology with a lot of regional, national and international sales and marketing.

Sponsored by the Division of Workforce Development, this offering is coordinated by Teri Zurfluh and Harvey McLemore, who crafted the following message for kids: “Come join the summer series that will spark imaginations and inspire creativity! It will be the best summer your brain ever had!”

Kids College 2011 will run weekdays during June and August with a variety of classes every week and over 40 different class choices in the following topic areas including career exploration, the arts, hobbies and interests, science, technology, engineering and math.

Registration materials will be available May 1 at PDCCC’s Regional Workforce Development Center in Franklin and online at www.pdc.edu/workforce-development/kids-college.php. Since class sizes are limited, early registration is encouraged. Call 569-6050 for more details.
