COURTLAND—William Thomas Pittman Jr., 82, died October 15, 2012, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
The son of the late William Thomas and Ruth Wood Pittman, Tommy was also predeceased by five sisters and his first wife, Frances Gillette Pittman.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara Layton Pittman; sons Hugh Gillette Pittman, William Thomas “Bill” Pittman, Bernard Wilmer Pittman and John Francis Pittman, all of Courtland; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, as well as a gracious host to all who visited his Promise Land farm, Mr. Pittman found his greatest pleasure spending time with family and friends.
He was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church, Manry Hunt Club and Sebrell Civic Club.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Courtland United Methodist Church by the Rev. Brandon Robbins. The burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday (today) at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests memorials be made to Courtland United Methodist Church. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
