CHESTERFIELD—Tidewater Academy’s volleyball team defeated Richmond Christian 3-1 in a Virginia Commonwealth Conference match on Tuesday.

Set scores were 14-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-23.

The Lady Warriors improved to 12-1 in the VCC and 17-3 overall.

Top players for the winners were senior Falon Williams with 16 kills and 23 digs. Senior Cary Beahm added 10 kills and 19 digs. Senior Tyler Stephenson had 21 assists.

“It was our strongest performance of the year,” said TA Coach Jimmy Dunn. “It was a good effort from everybody, and Richmond Christian is a hard place to play at; it is an extremely loud gym.”

TA at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, will be at Southampton Academy for a VCC match. TA is tied with Richmond Christian for first in the conference and a win would secure first place.

“It is always difficult playing on the road especially for the last game of the regular season,” said Dunn. “We have to bring our best game to be competitive.”
