Hearing for North College Drive apartments postponed

FRANKLIN—A public hearing scheduled for this evening, April 28, to discuss the possible rezoning of property on North College Drive for 270 apartments and six homes has been postponed until next month.
The developer of Franklin Summit asked that a hearing in front of the city’s Planning Commission be rescheduled, Franklin Mayor Jim Councill said.
The rezoning of that property has been met with much scrutiny both recently and in the past when Meadows X LLC wanted the property zoned for condominiums in 2005. When Franklin Summit took over the project in 2009, plans were for 150 condo units.
Opponents say the number of units planned would put unnecessary stress on city services, such as the police department and schools.
