Franklin netters get first win of season

FRANKLIN—Franklin High School boys’ tennis team pulled off its first win of the season over Tri-Rivers District foe Surry on Tuesday.
The host Broncos defeated the Cougars 6-1.
The Franklin loss came in a three-setter with No. 1 Parish Garza losing 6-3, 2-6, 6-6 (5-7) to M. Jefferson.
In singles action, winning for the Broncos were No. 2 Tevin Sumblin 6-1,6-3 over P. Lambert, No. 3 Shawn Derama, 6-1,6-4 over S. Sacheal, No. 4 William Jackson, 6-0,6-1 over J.B. Sacheal, and No. 5 Micheal Lawyer won by default.
In doubles playing an eight-game pro set, the Broncos won at No. 1 Garza and Sumblin 8-5 over Jefferson and Lambert and No. 2 Jackson and Derama won 8-5 over the Sacheal brothers
