Dexter “Duke” Warren Boone, 58, of Boykins was born in Southampton County on October 2, 1954.

He passed away on November 12, 2012, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

He was predeceased by his parents Harvey and Allie Boone, and a sister, Patricia Nelson.

He leaves to cherish his memory to his wife of 36 years, Gabrilla Boone, and son Craig Tyrone Boone. He is survived by six siblings, Fredrick Santiful (Barbara) of Brooklyn N.Y., Sarah Pope (Raymond) of Franklin Va., Laverne Boone (Rita) of Boykins Va., Dallas Boone (Elizabeth) of Franklin Va., Sabrina Smith (Ocie) of Portsmouth, Va., and Wendell Boone (Tammy) of Boykins Va.; five grandchildren, Brianna, Kayla, Kiara, Myah and Maliyah; mother-in-law Gussie Murphy of Franklin Va., three brothers-in-law David Murphy of District Heights, Md., Larry Murphy of Franklin, Va., and Joseph Murphy of Gates, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Bertha Artis of Newsoms Va.; and a host of relatives and friends.

A Homegoing Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Galilee Baptist Church in Branchville. Viewing will be Friday, November 16, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Engram Funeral Home in Franklin.
