A story on the Franklin mill closing will be featured on National Public Radio on Saturday.

National correspondent Adam Hochberg interviewed mill workers and Franklin residents Friday for the story, which is scheduled to air Saturday on Weekend Edition.

Hochberg, who covers the region, said that he was familiar with Franklin and the mill and knew immediately the impact the closing would have on the area.

“It kind of struck us that we hear these corporate announcements every couple of weeks and it seems like we’re getting numb to them,” he said. “This is devastating to this town.”

Weekend Edition will be broadcast on 89.5 WHRV in Norfolk from 8 to 10 a.m.
