AHOSKIE, N.C.—The Southampton Academy boys’ basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Lt. Nick Brantley Tournament with a 51-45 win over Ridgecroft School Tuesday.
The game will be played 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, against a yet-to-be determined opponent.
“It’s like any early season game,” said SA Coach Jim Tribbett. “It had highs and lows. We are just trying to develop the program, and get the kids to adapt to the new system.”
Down 24-13 at the half, the Raiders extended to an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter after junior Cameron Hines hit back-to-back 3-pointers.
“His 3-pointers were big, they gave us a nice cushion,” Tribbett said.
The Raiders, who improved to 2-0 on the season, were led by sophomore Matt Rose with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Junior Tonee Hill added 15 points and 5 rebounds.
