Sedley – James Marshall “Jimmy” Johnson, 74, passed away May 16, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Nansemond County, a son of the late Horace and Mildred Boothe Johnson, and was predeceased by an infant son, James Marshall Johnson, Jr, and three brothers, Phillip, Clyde, and Raymond Johnson. James was retired from International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 147 after 49 years, and was a member of B & B Hunt Club. He enjoyed NASCAR and keeping his yard nice. He was a former Army Reservist and a member of Grace Memorial United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, his wife of 56 ½ years, Joyce Dundalow Johnson; his son, John N. Johnson and wife, Robin; two granddaughters, his pride and joy, Amanda Kate Johnson and Jenna Kit Johnson; and brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Paulette Johnson.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Cliff Fritzinger officiating. Interment will follow at Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8: 30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, and suggests memorials be made to Ivor Methodist Church. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
