COURTLAND—An Isle of Wight Sheriff’s deputy was indicted Monday on felony charges in connection with alleged sexual acts with a teenage girl.

Sgt. Ron Carwile, 49, will appear in Southampton County Circuit Court on July 12. He is free on $10,000 bond.

The alleged incidents occurred in Franklin between September 2009 and January 2010.

Carwile was placed on administrative leave following the charges pending the outcome of an administrative investigation by the sheriff’s office. He has since returned to work, but is not participating in law enforcement activities.

Carwile was indicted for two counts of sexual abuse of a child under 15 and four counts of sexual abuse of a child under 15, third or subsequent offense.
